Seeds of Mountain mahogany
Window open to pour in quiet
Follow white capped mountains
Wild mustard yellow, watermelon red
Curve through parched arroyos
Northwest through Casa Solana
Onto old Buckman road
Slow for right angles, lizards crossing
Around sprinkled potholes
Stop to pick jamesii penstemon
Yellow evening primrose
Deep rooted Indian Paintbrush
Follow vaulting jackrabbits
Onto the crunch of gravel driveway
Park. Walk on brick past old river stones .
Behold water bowls bestow welcome.
Breathe high desert
